Travertine Hot Springs: Amidst the Raw Beauty of Nature

Imagine driving through the mountains of Tahoe in a snowstorm at 10 pm just to arrive at this destination. While I wouldn’t recommend it, that’s exactly what we did and I can honestly say it was worth it! Visiting these hot springs in winter is a truly magical experience like no other because we had the place all to ourselves and we were surrounded by the breathtaking snow-capped Eastern Sierras. Not to mention, the plunging temperatures of winter made the thermal-heated waters that much more appealing.

Located about 5 hours east of the bay in the small town of Bridgeport, this little oasis is absolutely free but bathers beware, clothing is optional. The main pool is only a short walk from the parking lot and easily accessible. There are supposedly other hidden hot springs nearby but we were unable to locate them.
